Frequently Asked Questions

I’ve been painting in this form for about 3 years.  At a friend’s suggestion I started watching youTube videos about how to do Pull String Painting.  As I continued to watch I discovered many other techniques including pour painting and dot painting.  I started slowly and just loved the results to the point that  I try to paint some everyday now!!

There’s a song by that name – Little is Much When God Is In It – and I felt that if I dedicated everything I produced, using the talents God gave me, the results would be up to God to make my efforts prosper.  Then, as God blessed,  the profits could be used to support missionaries that give their lives to spreading God’s Word to a needy world.  Those words are not in the Bible but the concept is – like Jesus turning a few loaves and fishes into enough to feed thousands of people.   My enjoyment and satisfaction is in the painting and then in knowing it brings someone pleasure and joy in their lives.

I’m all self- taught, no formal training.  I’ve always loved painting on things and doing crafts.  I’ve done many different craft forms over the years and in more recent years,  glass painting, adult coloring pages (which I have photos made and make them into cards), painting bird houses, plaques, etc.

Many designs start with stencils and with chalk pencils to draw guidelines to keep everything round and straight.  When the piece is done, the chalk lines wipe away.  Every dot and stroke are not always perfect, but the eye only sees the overall effect, not each individual dot.  Only the artist sees those inconsistencies usually.

I may have a general idea but I’m always totally amazed at the results.  I could never predict the end results unless I’m following a tutorial and someone else’s design.  That’s why every piece is unique and one-of-a kind.  It’s impossible to duplicate.  The subject matter might be similar – like turtles, seahorses, etc. but each one turns out different.  I just start with the first dot and it unfolds from there.  It’s so much fun!!!

I was asked to hold a painting class for about 13 teenage girls from my church.  What fun we had with them showing them how to paint a pull string masterpiece.  I had painting stations set up in my garage and each girl had fun producing their own masterpiece.  Anyone that shows an interest, I try to provide them an opportunity to try their hand at a painting.  Every time my oldest brother visits me, he wants to do a painting.  He’s painted two or three really good pieces.
